The first theatrical installment in the new Made in Abyss film series, Made in Abyss: Awakening Mystery (Japanese title: Mezameru Shinpi), opened in Japan on October 23, 2026. The official site announced that production on a second installment was also decided on October 23.
The earlier version of this article incorrectly called the project a trilogy, gave an unsupported early-2026 release window, and speculated about the film’s plot and production. Those claims have been removed. The official announcement does not establish a trilogy, the second installment’s release date, or international release plans.
