THE BIG NARUTO REVEALS

At its October 10 “NARUTO: What’s Next?” panel at New York Comic Con 2026, the franchise announced a new manga by Masashi Kishimoto, a limited crossover anime, and a multi-year slate spanning anime, games, cards, and more. The announcements are substantial, but several release details are still being held for later reveals.

SHADOW RISING: A NEW KISHIMOTO MANGA

The new manga is titled Naruto Shadow Rising and will be drawn by series creator Masashi Kishimoto. A super teaser was shown at the panel, but the story details have not been revealed yet. The next announced information point is Jump Festa 2027, scheduled for December 19–20.

NARUTO × NINKU IS A FOUR-EPISODE LIMITED SERIES

The crossover anime has been confirmed as a four-episode TV limited series. Masashi Kishimoto and Ninku creator Koji Kiriyama will supervise it; Noriyuki Abe is directing at Studio Pierrot, with Tetsuya Nishio as chief animation director and character designer and Nozomi Fukui as assistant director. No release date was announced in the October 10 report.

Variety’s report describes the setup: Kakashi sends Team 7 on a mission, appoints Naruto acting leader, and the team becomes lost in another world, where they meet a frog-faced boy named Fūsuke. That gives the project a clear crossover hook, while the four-episode format suggests a compact side adventure rather than a replacement for the main saga.

PROJECT RASENGAN POINTS TO A WIDER ROADMAP

The panel also introduced Project Rasengan, a plan describing the franchise’s mid- to long-term future across manga, anime, cards, games, and other areas, with projects teased through 2029. The panel identified four of the roadmap’s eight boxes as part of the project.

Two concrete additions are already on the calendar: Naruto Mobile is planned for a worldwide release, with more details expected at Jump Festa, and the Naruto Card Game is scheduled for worldwide release in June 2027 with three starter decks and its first booster pack revealed.

THE TAKEAWAY

Naruto’s next chapter is broader than a single sequel: a new Kishimoto manga, a compact crossover anime, a worldwide game release, and a card game all sit within the newly outlined roadmap. The next concrete update for Shadow Rising and Naruto Mobile is expected at Jump Festa 2027; the four-episode anime still has no announced release date. In the wider anime slate, studios and platforms are pairing established series with new adaptations, but several projects remain at announcement stage rather than having firm launch dates.
