A CITY UNDER THE RAIN
Hodaka runs away to Tokyo and finds a city under seemingly endless rain. There he meets Hina, a spirited young woman whose unusual ability can bring sunlight. The official synopsis from Prime Video makes the meeting the heart of the premise, while GKIDS presents Weathering With You as a feature film from director Makoto Shinkai and producer Genki Kawamura.
ROMANCE WITH REAL STAKES
Rain and sunlight are central to the film's premise, not just background: Hina's ability links a private relationship to a city facing persistent bad weather. Crunchyroll classifies the feature as drama, romance, and supernatural, a combination that gives its fantasy hook both emotional and communal stakes. The setup poses a useful question for a romantic fantasy: what does a personal wish mean when it affects people beyond the couple?
FINAL VERDICT
Weathering With You is a romantic fantasy whose official premise connects a young couple to a city in persistent rain. Its feature-film scope gives this story a self-contained form rather than a season-and-episode structure. Crunchyroll's listing provides a platform-specific advisory for profanity, smoking, drug/alcohol use, suggestive dialogue, and violence; check local ratings and availability.
